Abstract

This article describes and analyzes Adam Smith's economic philosophy and its influence on Indonesia's post-independence economy. The method used is qualitative with literature study and historical approach. Information is taken from various reference sources, such as: economic history books, Indonesian economic books, articles that have been published in reputable journals, and so on. Adam Smith, as the father of economics, really tries to make economics a positive-empirical science. Science begins and ends in empirical data and omits theological explanations that he thinks are speculative. Its influence on the economy after Indonesia's independence at the beginning was not so obvious, but in the next regime it was evident with the Repelita development program in the five-year GBHN.
