ABBASIYAH: MENGGALI KEJAYAAN EKONOMI DAN ILMU PENGETAHUAN ISLAM
Abstract
The Abbasid Caliphate lasted from the 8th to the 13th centuries AD which was the heyday of Islam. Islamic civilization at that time was famous for its intellectual, cultural, scientific, and prosperous economic achievements. This article explores the golden age of Islam in the Abbasid period, which was marked by important advances in astronomy, medicine, philosophy, and literature. This article uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Information is collected from library sources, such as several articles that have been published in journals, history books, and so on. Through an analysis of historical sources and scholarly works, this article aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the golden age of Islam under Abbasid rule, with an emphasis on its lasting impact on global intellectual history. The results of the discussion are found in the socio-political factors that facilitated this progress, such as the caliphate's patronage of science, the translation movement, and the establishment of knowledge centers such as the Baitul Hikmah in Baghdad.
