Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji arti penting peran orang tua terhadap keberhasilan pendidikan dan pentingnya jalinan hubungan Lembaga Pendidikan dengan orang tua. Studi literatur ini mengkaji 34 dokumen artikel dari 61 artikel yang berhasil dirunut melalui google scholar dan aplikasi Publish or Perish 8. Simpulan dari hasil kajian adalah bahwa orang tua sebagai salah satu stake holder kunci pendidikan berperan dalam membentuk kepribadian (syakhshiyyah) dan penanaman soft skill(ketrampilan non teknis) mahasiswa melalui arahan dan keteladanan (role model) pada pusat pendidikan keluarga. Orang tua berperan menanamkan tujuh ketrampilan non teknis (personal dan social), yaitu kerjasama, komunikasi, problem solving, kepercayaan diri, tanggung jawab, kemandirian, dan entrepreneurship. Orang tua dalam membentuk kepribadian meliputi penanaman akhlaq, kepribadian Islam dan konsep diri didukung peran keteladanan (role model). Dukungan orang tua berperan terhadap keberhasilan studi mahasiswa, sejak keputusan untuk lanjut studi, pemilihan kampus / jurusan / konsentrasi, penyesuaian awal studi, dorongan belajar, antisipasi gangguan belajar, dorongan berprestasi, penyelesaian tugas akhir, pengambilan keputusan bekerja / berwirausaha. Peran dukungan keluarga khususnya orang tua sejak pra studi hingga pasca studi meniscayakan pentingnya jalinan komunikasi yang baik antara Lembaga Pendidikan dengan orang tua demi keberhasilan mahasiswa menyiapkan kompetensi untuk memasuki dunia usaha atau bekerja karir.
